They were a let down for me... July 28, 2010 Jennifer Manning (Grasston, MN, US) I had tried the Betty Crocker GF Brownie mix and loved it, so I bought these without testing them first. Silly me... They must be eaten while still warm. If you wait too long, they develop a sandy texture and loose much of their flavor.
Just the two of us, so I mix up a batch and roll them into balls. I refrigerate the balls until we feel like warm out of the oven cookies. Then I only bake as many as I know we will eat for that one treat time.
Pretty Good For a Mix July 12, 2010 Sunshine Alternative Mama (Sunny So Cal) If I was just judging these as gluten-free chocolate chip cookies I'd give them no more than 3 stars, but going against other mixes they are easy to make (even by children), and are relatively inexpensive, making them a 4 star product as long as people aren't comparing them to homemade. They are slightly gritty from the rice flour and they don't hold together exceptionally well, plus they fall apart the next day. But they do well when eaten partially frozen and actually make a decent cookie for a GF ice cream sandwich. For slightly less spreading use Spectrum shortening instead of butter.
Best GF cookie mix July 10, 2010 Vanessa Hughes Thank you Betty Crocker. These are by far the best GF cookies from a mix we have tried. The taste is very similar to its wheat counterpart. They are just a little bit crumbly, and the cookie dough isn't nearly as good as the end product. The convenience factor is great. This is a must for our pantry and once you try them, yours as well.
Oh so delicious!! July 9, 2010 amazonian I have close friends that have celiac disease & they have introduced me to a plethora of gluten free foods. I have grown to prefer some gluten free foods over their "regular" counterparts! I absolutely love the Betty Crocker GF Chocolate chip cookies. They are a little more crumbly compared to wheat flour cookies but I'm ok with this as the flavor is spot on! I rather prefer the texture of GF cookies.
A nice treat, but a bit sweet June 30, 2010 randi joy (LAFAYETTE, CA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was so pleased that these cookies were good tasting and soft. They were extremely crumbly, but stayed fresh in a plastic airtight container for a week (yes, they lasted that long because my kids didn't love them). As an adult, I found them to be a bit too sweet. If I were baking from scratch (as I always did before I went GF), I would have given them a bit more complexity with brown sugar and less sweetener overall.
